Games to Watch: DU's Lacrosse Season Kicks Off

In this month's issue, I got a lacrosse goalie's perspective on what it's like to stand in the way of shots traveling close to 100 mph. Apparently it hurts, a lot. But DU sophomore Jamie Faus is used to it; there's a reason he was ranked 13th in the country last season for save percentage.

Catch Faus in action at three can't-miss home games of the season (played at DU's Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium unless otherwise noted):

1. The season home opener against the University of Michigan. It's Michigan's first year in the NCAA Division I program, and the school's had the top club program for years. (Feb. 25, 1:30 p.m.)

2. DU's last home conference game of the regular season will be one of its toughest games. They play Loyola University Maryland—the team DU beat two seasons ago to the win the Eastern College Athletic Conference Regular Season Title. (Apr. 14, 7 p.m.)

3. It's the inaugural year of Inside Lacrosse Magazine's Mile High Classic. The double header pits the University of Virginia (the defending national champions) against the University of Pennsylvania, before DU takes the field versus Duke University. Last year, DU beat the all-star Duke team, giving them a late-season surge that ended early with a loss in the semifinals. But the effort put Denver lacrosse on the map for the long term. (Apr. 27, 8 p.m., Sports Authority Field at Mile High)
